Background[]
Diary Entry of Septimus Marius[]
I don't know what happened. Yesterday I was captain of a trader plying the seas, and that's all I ever wanted to be. I was free - I saw distant lands others only heard tale of; I was happy.
Now, thanks to Jupiter, I am ruler bound to duty in a foreign world. That it is unknown is of no consequence; the unknown I am accustomed to. But I am expected to rule here, to wage war and to win. For Jupiter, greater glory. For me, only a test...and at the end only freedom or ruin, like every voyage upon the sea. I do not know if I will be an able commander, but hope will be my anchor. If Hannibal - nightmare of ancient Rome and paragon of strategists - can spring upon the world from a family of traders, so can I. Indeed, my empire this day is no greater than many a ship that sailed under my command.
Situation[]
A rebellion (R) has sprung in the Northwest. A small band of my countrymen have established a foothold there. Unfortunately, they control the only gold resources (S) on the island. If this rebel colony goes unchallenged, they may become too powerful to contend with.
Hints[]
- Your opponents are very aggressive. Don't let their early attacks upset you. If you concentrate on recruiting soldiers in the beginning, the attacks will quickly cease.
- Try to expand your territory quickly so that your opponent's room for colonizing is cramped.
